5 Tips to Go from Workout to Night Out

If you’re like me, you’ve had some days when you feel like you don’t have a minute to catch your breath. Sometimes I end up being on the go from morning to night, jetting from appointments to the gym to dinner out with my friends. And I want to make sure I look good the whole time! So a while ago I came up with the perfect routine to transition from a sweat session to a night out on the town. Here’s what works for me:

Tip #1: Fake a full shower The moment I’m done working out, I hop into a shower to quickly rinse off in cold water. There’s no time for me to do my normal routine, so I have some cheats. When I’m done rinsing off the sweat, I use a face cleanser wipe on my face and a few spritz of dry shampoo in my hair. You’d never know I didn’t take a full shower!

Tip #2: Do a sped-up makeup and hair routine I’m not preparing for Dancing With the Stars, so this is not the time to do a 17-step makeup ritual! Instead I just focus on the basics: eyeshadow, mascara, bronzer, lip gloss. Because guess what: Natural-looking makeup is totally in right now. And don’t forget the perfume! A spritz of the right scent makes me feel sexy and feminine. As for my hair, I’m totally into top knots right now—especially when you make them fun by making them out of a fishtail braid. The best part: These hairdos look best when you have dirty-ish hair.

Tip #3: Pack a no-wrinkle outfit I love wearing clothes that are soft and that move with me—even when I’m out on the town. But that actually works to my advantage here because a sexy jersey dress (perfect for dancing!) can be packed into a gym bag and pulled out without being too wrinkled.

Tip #4: Tote a cute gym bag When I go from the gym to going out, I need a bag that can do double-duty. My current favorite is a gym bag in a fun metallic fabric—you’d never know it had my sweaty gym clothes inside.

Tip #5: Never stop tracking your steps I wear my Fitbit Flex 2 at the gym but I want to make sure I get credit for all the steps I get in at night, too. I just switch out the pebble and go with a sexy bangle or the stylish pendant. Nobody needs to know it’s really my Fitbit tracker!
