Jenny Finkel
Jenny Finkel is a certified yoga, barre, and group fitness instructor. She began practicing yoga when she was 12 years old, after reading an article in Seventeen magazine. At the time, she was an asthmatic, scoliotic tween with such an aversion to sports and athletics that she would feign illness to get out of gym class. Through yoga, she discovered the fitness outlet she needed to develop confidence in her body—it was the first time she felt skilled at any sort of physical endeavor.
Jenny maintained her yoga practice into adulthood, and became a full-time instructor in 2010 in New Orleans. In 2011, she and her husband moved to Chicago, where she quickly became an active and visible member of the yoga community. Jenny has completed multiple yoga and fitness trainings, including Therapeutic Yoga for Cancer, AFAA Group Fitness, and Exhale’s 40 Hour Barre and Core Fusion certifications.
In 2015, Jenny led her first international yoga retreat. She has since led two more, with a fourth in Costa Rica on the books for 2017. Her writing has been published in elephantjournal and MindBodyGreen. She has been featured in Mantra Magazine and was interviewed for Sonima and an upcoming issue of Oprah Magazine. Jenny has been a presenting health and wellness expert for several Cancer Connections patient education events at Northwestern University’s Lurie Cancer Center. She served as an ambassador for lululemon athletica’s Michigan Ave store from January 2013 through June 2015. When she’s not teaching or practicing yoga and fitness, Jenny performs improv comedy with the non-profit troupe Funny Bones Improv.
Jenny knows first-hand the transformative powers of yoga. She believes that health and fitness goals are always achievable with the right support and guidance. Jenny’s philosophy of making yoga and fitness accessible to every person and every body is directly in line with Fitbit’s mission, and she is so excited to enter into this partnership! Jenny would love to connect with you on her website, Instagram, and Facebook!
