When we hear about Fitbit users who’ve reached their goals, we love to share the news! Bryce P. surpassed his goals—beyond what he even thought possible! Here is Bryce’s success story, in his own words.
“Growing up, I was a multi-sport athlete in excellent shape. Over the last 10 years, I really let my fitness get away from me. Life happened. I allowed myself to slip using my busy life at work and home as an excuse for my poor to non-existent fitness. On December 26th, 2013 I stepped on the scale. I didn’t really weigh myself regularly so in my mind, I was still athletic and in shape. The number astounded me: 277 pounds.
At that moment, I drew a line in the sand and began my mission to get back into shape and reclaim my health.
I set an initial goal of 199 pounds—my weight as a freshman in college. It was an aggressive and lofty goal. Initially, I knew I wanted to get there but didn’t really know how. I was far from an expert on nutrition and exercise—it used to come so easy to me, but now I really had to work at it. I solicited advice from everyone I knew who was living a healthy lifestyle.
I started tracking calories and exercising daily. I started to see results but they were far from consistent. I wanted to ensure I was eating a well-balanced diet to support my increase in athletic activity, but I was having an extremely difficult time setting daily goals for calorie intake.
Then I discovered Fitbit. Everything changed.
My Fitbit Flex helped me gauge how active I am every single day. It helped me make adjustments to my nutrition, while simultaneously kept me motivated to keep moving. As a result, I started seeing consistent results and completely fell in love with running.
When I started running, I could barely make it a quarter mile before I had to stop and walk. My daily run now tops out at 6 miles and I absolutely can’t wait to run each and every day. And now I compete against my family, friends and co-workers—we all keep each other motivated to stay active.
I have not yet achieved my target weight goal but I am well on my way. I have lost over 70 pounds and dropped 8 inches from my waistline. The information I get from my Fitbit Flex allows me to live a healthier lifestyle, which in turn has me eating healthier, sleeping better, stressing out less and simply feeling great. I have so much more energy, which I spend every ounce of chasing around my beautiful daughters!
