**Update October, 16, 2017: Fitstar Personal Trainer is now Fitbit Coach. Learn more about personalized workout recommendations and streaming music with Fitbit Radio.**

In 2015 Fitbit announced the acquisition of Fitstar, one of the largest platforms for delivering personalized video-based exercise experiences on mobile devices. Today marks the next evolution of that partnership as Fitbit and the Fitstar Personal Trainer app kick off their deepest integration yet. What does that mean for you? Access to smarter, more motivating features.

COMING SOON TO YOUR FITBIT APP

Have you ever gone to the gym and just hopped on the elliptical because you didn’t know what else to do? Or done a bunch of strength training exercises at home in no particular order because they were the only ones you could remember? Your workouts will be more effective if you have a plan, and now you can with Recommended Workouts.

Because your Fitbit and Fitstar accounts can “talk” to each other and share data, Fitstar is now able to send workout recommendations based on your activity history straight to your Fitbit app. For instance, if you ran five miles wearing a Fitbit tracker, Fitstar might suggest a customized Fitstar Personal Trainer session that rests your legs and focuses on abs and arms, or a Freestyle session, like ”Cardio Crunch,” for an alternative cardio option that still supports heart health. You’ll also get workout recommendations that are based on what people similar to you are doing. The result? You stay on track and reach your goals faster.

You’ll see these smart workout recommendations in the new “Guidance” navigation tab, which is coming soon to the Fitbit app. In the Fitstar app, they’re available in the “Recommended Workouts” section of the dashboard.

FITSTAR PERSONAL TRAINER APP GETS UPDATED, TOO

It’s been redesigned to give users like you a more personalized experience, and it’s available worldwide in English, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish. You can can easily set up an account by using your Fitbit login for a single sign-on experience. [Download Fitstar Apps.] In addition to recommended workouts, here are the highlights:

A new look and feel: The user interface has been redesigned to create a fresh and inspiring environment that looks great on a wide variety of formats, from mobile phones to the latest high-definition TVs.

Fitstar Radio in-app music: You can now add a soundtrack to your workout with Fitstar Radio, which lets you choose from seven different music channels: Pop, Rock, Hip Hop, Electronic/Dance, Throwback (80’s, 90’s, 2000’s), Power Mix and Cardio Mix. The Power Mix and Cardio Mix stations will be personally curated by Fitstar.

More exercises: Fitstar now has even more bodyweight and cardio exercises for every fitness level—with more to be added regularly—to keep your workouts fresh and fun. And each move is adaptive. That means if you rate a 30-second plank as too hard, Fitstar may ask you do the move for a shorter duration next time.

Fitbit continues to strive to make staying healthy fun, engaging and meaningful. To learn about other updates on the horizon, check out Personal Goal Setting and Fitbit Community.

  • I sent an email to Fitstar developers: “I am so excited to use this program but I received an error stating “Your device isn’t compatible with this version” I have an HTC Sense 6.0 Android Version 5.0.2. Will this be compatible soon?”

The response I received was: “As of the moment, there are a handful of Android phones that are not supported because we couldn’t provide the best possible experience for those devices but we’re working on adding up devices which might include HTC Sense 6.0 that will support Fitstar in the future.”

It is very frustrating to see a great new feature available in an app I love and use everyday but not have access to it 🙁 I wish it was compatible with all the same devices that Fitbit is compatible with. BUMMER!

  • Have you ever thought about adding a little bit more than just your articles?
I mean, what you say is important and everything. But just imagine if
you added some great visuals or videos to give your posts more, “pop”!
Your content is excellent but with images and video clips, this blog could undeniably be one
of the most beneficial in its niche. Amazing blog!

  • When are you going to launch the Fitstar Personal Trainer app for Windows Phone/10? It would be really great to be able to connect my fitbit account on my Windows phone 10 to Fitstar

  • When is this FitStar App going to actually remind me to hit my workouts? I’ve subscribed to a workout session but forget about it, even though I signed up for reminders!

    Add this feature, please!
