Matcha Green Tea Smoothies
Recipe by Ivy Manning | Photo by Erin Kunkel
Take your green smoothie to the next level with matcha, ground green tea leaves, which pack potent antioxidants, as well as a bright green color and delicate flavor. Spoon it into this creamy blend-and-go shake, or spin it into a beautiful smoothie bowl. Just decrease the almond milk by half, to create a thicker base. Top with sliced fresh fruit, chopped nuts, or homemade granola, and dig in with a spoon.
Ingredients
1 cup (8 fl oz/250 ml) unsweetened vanilla almond or hemp milk
1 cup (½ oz/15 g) loosely packed baby spinach leaves
1 banana, peeled, sliced, and frozen
½ avocado, halved, pitted, and peeled
2 tablespoons hemp seeds
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon matcha powder (Japanese green tea powder)
1 cup (8 oz/250 g) ice cubes
Instructions
In a blender, combine the almond milk, spinach, banana, avocado, hemp seeds, honey, matcha, and ice cubes. Blend on high until smooth, stopping to scrape down the sides of the blender once or twice.
Pour the smoothie into glasses and serve cold.
