Not Just Another Manic Monday with Julianne Hough

Like most people, my week typically gets off to a speedy start. (What is it about Mondays that make them feel so hectic?) That’s why I make a big effort to slow down and make healthy choices—starting out on the right foot helps me stay on track all the way through until Friday. Here’s what that looks like for me.

7am: Rise and shine! It’s so much fun to wake up to wagging tails. I give my dogs, Lexi and Harley, a nice long cuddle, then I get ready for the day!

8am: Workout at Body by Simone. I’ve always loved working out in the morning. It wakes me up and gives me energy for the rest of the day! Also, I’ve learned that if I want to fit in a sweat session every day I should plan to get it done first. Otherwise, things come up. Today’s class was especially great! My trainer Erica is the bomb.com.

10am: Break for breakfast. I try to keep things clean, so most days I’ll have two eggs over easy with avocado, and sliced tomato on the side. Today, I couldn’t resist a piece of toast. Sometimes you’ve gotta give in to the craving—if you don’t, you might overdo it later. I usually sip water with meals, but in the morning I also enjoy a cup of English breakfast tea, and sometimes a green juice.

Mid-morning: After breakfast, I shower and get ready for all the meetings I have. Luckily, I don’t miss a step with my Fitbit Alta. I can quickly change out of my fitness gear, clean up, toss on a cute outfit, and go. My family and friends like to tease me for having boundless energy—must be all the veggie power from the green juice!

1pm: Normally for lunch, I’ll have salad with a bunch of chopped veggies and grilled chicken, but today I’m in the mood for something warm, so I’m pairing my greens with soup.

Mid-day: Since I’m not in rehearsals for any big shows right now, in the afternoon I have more meetings. Lately, I’ve also been reading scripts, considering new projects to either develop or be a part of, and auditioning. My days vary so much, sometimes even I have a hard time keeping up. But I only take on projects that I’m really excited about, so I always manage to have fun with everything.

6pm: I make a point to cook dinner most nights, but especially on Mondays. I just feel like a healthy, homemade meal sets the tone for the rest of the week. I love cooking and trying new things! I love chicken, fish, and the occasional steak, and pair it with any kind of veggies. Or maybe I’ll chop up some nice peppers and olives for a big Greek salad. Tonight, I’m roasting salmon and asparagus. Yum!

8pm: Where are my fur babies? Evenings are prime snuggle time for Lexi and Harley.

10:30pm: Bedtime! I feel so lucky to be able to do what I love for a living, so every night I think of five things that I’m grateful for. Making a mental “thank you” list helps me unwind and puts me in the best mood. I can’t wait to wake up and do it all over again tomorrow!
