Golden Tropical Smoothie with Mango & Turmeric
Recipe by Ivy Manning | Photo by Erin Kunkel
A mango and banana smoothie is a sweet way to start your day. Add a golden touch of turmeric, prized for its anti-inflammatory properties. Coconut milk beverage imparts tropical flavor without too many calories and keeps this blend vegan. But if you’re recovering after a workout or want a more satisfying smoothie, add a dollop of Greek yogurt and use skim or soy milk to boost the protein.
INGREDIENTS
1 cup (6 oz/185 g) frozen mango chunks
1 banana, roughly chopped
2 tablespoons hemp hearts
1 teaspoon ground turmeric
1 cup (8 fl oz/250 ml) coconut milk beverage, such as Vita
INSTRUCTIONS
In a blender, combine the mango, banana, hemp hearts, and turmeric. Add the coconut milk beverage. Blend until smooth. Serve cold.
