The only thing worse than completing a workout and not capturing any data is having your summaries skewed by unexpected downtime. Thankfully, if you use a Fitbit Charge 2, Blaze, or Surge, you can pause and restart your workout anytime you’d like.

workout paused on charge 2With the Charge 2, just press the button on the left side of your tracker to pause, and then press it again to resume.

For Blaze, tap the pause icon on your screen or press the Select button on the bottom right of your tracker.

Surge is similar. To pause and resume a workout, press the Select button, which is also on the bottom right of this device.

Get psyched for more accurate data by taking a look at a nine situations when the workout pause function is sure to come in handy.

Exercise Interruptions That Make You Pause

  1. When a text or phone call comes in that you can’t ignore.
  2. When you want to change the Fitstar Radio playlist you’re listening to (Hip Hop Hustle, anyone?)
  3. When inspiration strikes and you have to jot down your great idea before it’s gone.
  4. When you’re on a ride through the countryside and a herd of cattle block the road.
  5. When your kid wakes up early from his nap—screaming.
  6. When you’re between sets. A study in Experimental Physiology found that resting for two to three minutes between strength training sets may boost muscle growth more than resting for just one minute.
  7. When you’ve just got to stop to snap a picture of that sunrise/sunset.
  8. When you get lost (hey, it happens) and you have to check Google Maps.
  9. When nature, um, calls. And calls again.

  • I only ever get to exercise on my farm so sometimes the stop is to pat the pet calves and lambs that have been hand raised when they come to me out in the paddocks………..

  • I can usually get the text in but the phone call is either sent to voice mail or I send a text message that I will call them back. The music is easy for me to do. I have all of my cd’s on my phone. I usually have one picked out that I listen to. If I have to pick another, I am looking through the list. Soon I will be upgrading the Fitbit Charge HR 2.
