Harley Pasternak’s Top 5 Must-Have Fitness Picks

Everyone’s fitness journey is unique, but if you’re on a mission to tone up, lose pounds, or just generally get your health back on track, it’s important to arm yourself with the very best tools. That’s why I have a go-to set of get-fit items that I recommend to all my clients—adding them to your arsenal might just help you smash your goals. Here are my top five picks:

1. BOSU Balance Trainer

It looks like a modified exercise ball, but I personally think the BOSU Balance Trainer is a superior fitness tool. You can turn the soft round side down and do squats, lunges, and push-ups while challenging the proprietor section of your core, hips, and legs. Alternately, you can place the flat side down and do the same exercises while standing on the soft side, challenging your lower legs, ankles, and feet. Not only that, but the BOSU makes for an amazing abdominal fitness tool, allowing for a ton of versatility.

2. Propel Water

For anyone who does prolonged and/or intense workouts or who exercises in the heat, staying hydrated and replacing electrolytes is essential. While basic water is always great, what I personally love about drinking Propel is that it has a similar electrolyte profile to that of our natural bodily fluids. As an ambassador for Propel, I’m also a big fan of the fact that it’s sugar-free and tastes delicious, which makes you a lot more likely to drink more.

3. Fitbit Versa™

As a Fitbit ambassador, having a Fitbit really liberates me from spending more time in the gym than I need to since it allows me to track my everyday activities. Fitbit has also created an incredibly supportive (and at times, competitive!) community for me to get fit with. And most importantly, my Fitbit Versa keeps track of the quality and quantity of my sleep, and I can use my data to figure out the ideal time I should be going to bed and waking up to get into a restorative and consistent sleep pattern.

4. Harley Pasternak Power Blender by Salton

Smoothies, soups, and dips all provide awesome ways to get nutrient-dense meals into your diet without spending too much time fussing over complex recipes. Frustrated with having to spend over $700 on a decent blender for too many years of my life, I partnered with Salton to design an incredibly powerful blender—for a fraction of the price.

5. Slingshot Hip Circle

After rolling my ankle playing basketball and trying to rehab it back into shape, I learned about the importance of having strong gluteus medius muscles. The outside of your butt is not just essential for proper lower body function, but truly helps to round out the aesthetic of a great behind.

Using the Slingshot Hip Circle band when I do hip thrusts or squats, I’m able to activate a muscle group that’s almost impossible to isolate otherwise with the same intensity. This particular Hip Circle is pretty amazing because it’s comfortable, while maintaining the perfect amount of resistance throughout the body’s range of motion, unlike some rubber elastic counterparts.
