Hey, everyone! My name is Julianne—my friends call me Jules, and I’m so excited to be a Fitbit Ambassador. I’m an actress, dancer, singer, and all around lover of life! My family, friends, and two dogs, Lexi and Harley, mean the world to me and I’m beyond grateful that I’ve been able to live out my aspirations.
How did you get your start?
I’ve been performing for as long as I can remember. From the ages of 10 to 15, I lived in London, where I trained and lived with my dance coaches, and competed in the Blackpool Dance Festival—the biggest ballroom competition in the world. When I was 18, I moved to Los Angeles and worked on the ABC game show Show Me The Money with William Shatner. It was the first job I ever booked, but it didn’t stay on the air very long. Shortly thereafter, I joined the Dancing With the Stars tour as a company dancer. From there, I was asked to be on Dancing with the Stars fourth season, where I was paired with Apolo Anton Ohno, and we won that season! In the meantime, I was trying to break into the music world and pursue my passion for acting. I worked on the films Burlesque, Footloose, Rock of Ages, and Safe Haven…and now here I am!
Where have you appeared or been featured?
You can find me most consistently on my lifestyle blog JulianneHough.com, where I discuss beauty, home décor, health, inspiration, and more. I just wrapped another season of Dancing with the Stars. In January I will star in Grease Live, and also be featured in the comedy Dirty Grandpa, opposite Robert De Niro and Zac Efron.
How do you find your fit?
I like to mix it up! I train at Body by Simone and go to CorePower Yoga. I also love to hike with my dogs, Lexi and Harley. Anything that keeps me physically active and mentally stimulated is my kind of workout!
What is your most memorable achievement?
I recently won an Emmy for Outstanding Choreography with my brother Derek and Tessandra Chavez! That was pretty unforgettable!
Why do you love Fitbit?
I love Fitbit because it encourages a healthy and active lifestyle—two things I love! It’s fun to see how many steps I’ve taken each day, the quality of my sleep the night before, and more. I often compete with myself to see if I can improve my numbers every day.
What do you love most about your job?
Where to begin! I love that I get to create on a daily basis. If asked to choose between acting, dancing, singing, or producing, I wouldn’t be able to! But the best part is that I get to do a little bit of everything and pursue all of my passions.
What are you most proud of?
The thing that I’m most proud of is that I’ve followed my dreams since day one. It’s been trying at times, but I’ve always stayed focused and determined.
What’s the best health or fitness advice you’ve ever received?
Balance is key. It’s a marathon, not a sprint!
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve ever learned?
The biggest lesson I learned was that, if I’m doing it for vanity, then I’d never feel successful. So now, being healthy and feeling good on the inside is my motivation.
